The 2013-2014 Bach Choir season is titled MASSive. It will consist of a series of interesting presentations of a variety of music from Masses covering three centuries.

First up will be a program we call Monster Mass featuring the Bruckner Mass in E minor. Rounding out this program wil be the a cappella Mass in G Minor by William Byrd. These performances will take place on October 26 & 27, 2013 – the weekend prior to Hallowe’en – @ St. Agnes Center, Carlow University. Guests are invited to attend in costume.

Next up will be a program we are calling A Mass Affair – French Kiss, presented on Friday, February 14, and Sunday, February 16, 2014 @ First Presbyterian Church, downtown. Fleshing out this intriguing title will be performances of the beautiful Requiem Masses by Maurice Durufle and Gabriel Faure. The twist here is that the sections of the Mass will be presented back-to-back – the Kyrie of one followed by the Kyrie of the other, then the Credo of the first followed by the Credo of the other – hence the “French Kiss” in the program’s title.

Finally, the season will wind up with Jazz Mazz, an exciting presentation featuring the terrific Mass of Hope by Pittsburgh’s own Joe Negri. These performances will take place on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27, 2014 @ a venue TBA.

Each production will bring something unique to the performances – sometimes in interesting spaces, sometimes with added performance value. The MASSive season promises to bring surprises and beautiful music to the community across an eight-month time span.

We hope you will plan now to be part this new venture in the growing legacy of innovative Bach Choir presentations.  Season subscriptions are available by calling 412-241-4044.
